The Eliza Kendall Society recognizes and celebrates a storied tradition of patients and friends creating a legacy of giving. Together, by remembering Newton-Wellesley in their estate plans, they make a lasting commitment to advancing treatment and care here in our community.
In 1886, the hospital received its very first bequest from the Society’s namesake, Eliza Kendall of Newtonville. In the days and years that followed, the founding vision inspired many ardent believers to contribute their own enduring support. Nearly a century and a half later, that tradition continues.
Today, the society honors all who include the hospital in their estate plans. While bequests such as Miss Kendall’s remain a powerful means of support, plans of members take many forms:
- Naming Newton-Wellesley Hospital as a beneficiary of a will or trust
- Establishing a charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder trust, or other life-income gift
- Designating the hospital as a beneficiary of a retirement plan, donor-advised fund, or life insurance policy
- Donating real estate, artwork, or other property to the hospital
- Establishing an endowed fund at the hospital
By joining these visionary donors, you will carry on a tradition of philanthropy that supports exceptional patient care and keeps Newton-Wellesley among the top community hospitals in the country.
Membership benefits include:
- Recognition in the annual Newton-Wellesley Donor Report
- Invitations to the annual Eliza Kendall Society event and other special events
- Mailings and publications featuring current Newton-Wellesley news
Society membership creates no obligation. If, at any time in the future, you decide to change your plans, simply notify our Office of Gift Planning, and we will remove your name from our membership ranks.
